How I work

Initial Communication via email / phone / Skype. There are no fees for the initial emails, correspondence and phone calls made between us, while you are deciding whether to use my services or not. Once you have decided that you’d like to make use of my services, a 50% deposit is payable to secure your booking with me.

Planning Meeting. We will arrange a planning meeting (or a Skype call) to discuss Documentation and the actual Ceremony, Marriage Certificate and payments. I am very flexible as to what your needs and preferences are. We will discuss this together to ensure your ceremony is taylor-made with your personal touch. This planning meeting can happen at your convenience ie: months before the wedding, or a week or two before.

Documentation. Once your booking is confirmed with me, I will need all documentation to be emailed to me (please rather scan and email to me). During the last week leading up to your wedding, I will begin to fill in and complete the necessary forms and documents required by SA Dept. Home Affairs.

The Ceremony. At the Ceremony, I will conduct a warm, heartfelt and special ceremony that’s tailor-made to your specifications. All necessary documents will have been completed beforehand and the Marriage Register will be signed by you both and your two witnesses, afterwards. Your Abridged Marriage Certificate will be completed and given to you afterwards, as well as your copy of the Marriage Register. A wedding rehearsal can be arranged at an extra fee of R300.

"Unabridged” Marriage Certificate" - for Non SA Citizens (for International  Marriage Registration). This service is required for non-SA Citizens (foreigners / tourists) getting married in SA.  An “Unabridged” certificate is a “Full” Marriage Certificate, usually used to “register” a marriage in a foreign country.  I will help to organize this.

Things I need from you

( I need these 1 week before your wedding, at the very latest )

From ALL bridal couples I need:

  • 4 x ID / Passport size, colour photos of each of you (husband and wife) = 8 photos in total. (give to me on person / post it to me)
  • Scan and email to me: Bride & Groom's ID's / Passports
  • Scan and email to me: your 2 Witnesses ID's / Passport
  • Email to me: a letter from your Attorney (if you have a marriage contract / Pre-Nup)
  • If either of you is a widower / widow, a clear copy of the Death Certificate is required. (scan and email to me)

From Foreigners (non SA residents) : I ALSO need:

  • The visa number / permit number / temporary residence number in your passport (scan and email to me)
  • You must sign the "Declaration For The Purpose Of Marriage" form  BI-31 (which I will supply), signed at the ceremony
  • I need a "Letter Of No Impediment" from your country's Embassy / Authorities / Government. (ie: a letter that says they are not opposed to you getting married in South Africa, to the mentioned husband)
  • If either of you is divorced, a clear copy of the "Divorce Certificate" must be sent to me (scan and email to me)
  • If either of you is under 18 years of age, a form BI-32 is required. (I have this form with me)

NB: In the case of Foreigners getting married here in South Africa, these are the procedures:

  • The marriage is conducted in the usual manner, using the standard SA Marriage Register BI-30 book.
  • Should you want an Unabridged Marriage Certificate (a 'full' certificate, for international purposes), I will be able to arrange this on your behalf. We can discuss this.
